Emotional Stress

When an individual is experiencing high stress situations like divorce or a death in the family, it can result in hair loss. The types of hair loss triggered by anxiety and stress include:

  1. Alopecia Areata – The loss of large clumps of hair in areas around your scalp or gradual hair fall that adds up over time.
  2. Telogen Effluvium – A condition where hair falls out more than it normally does. 
  3. Trichotillomania – A condition that is a result of stress and anxiety where the individual pulls out their hair either consciously or without realizing it.

If you are losing your hair due to high stress and anxiety, take some measures to ease your tension. You can try exercising, meditating or seeing a therapist. 

Physical Stress

Hair loss caused by physical trauma often becomes noticeable three to six months after the incident. this hair loss however, is only temporary and once the individual affected is on the road to recovery, they can expect to get their hair back. This hair loss condition is called telogen effluvium.   

Lack Of Protein

When we don’t put enough protein in our diets, our bodies begin shutting down hair growth. This hair loss begins to show two to three months after a drop in protein intake. To keep our hair and bodies nice and healthy, it’s important that we consume protein rich foods like beans, nuts, dairy, fish, eggs, tofu, and meat. 

Vitamin B Deficiency

Having low levels of vitamin B has a high correlation to hair loss. To get back on track for healthy and strong hair, you can consider taking vitamin B supplements or resort to natural sources like fish, meat, eggs, starchy vegetables, non-citrus fruits, avocados and nuts.

Over Styling

Years of robust styling and chemical hair treatments can result in permanent hair loss and damaged hair. Styling your hair in tight braids, hair weaves, chemical relaxers and heat can destroy the root of your hair. By avoiding these styling methods and nourishing your hair with natural oils and a healthy diet, you can strengthen your weakened hair and bring back life to your damaged locks
